Tilleda Falls

Nothing beats a little relaxation surrounded by nature!

This last weekend we experienced a new campground in Tilleda, WI. The gang all gathered and set up gear Friday evening, followed by open fire cooking of a life time supply of brats. The evening was full of laughter, chit-chat and some drinks around the fire with a little catch phrase fun too.

Saturday, as we woke to the sounds of the rushing waterfall, we prepped a good ol' down-home eggs and bacon breakfast followed by a day of leisure walks, hippie horseshoes, dog walks and more fun relaxing in our fold out chairs. The evening was enjoyed with a Dutch-oven lasagna meal, which soon lead to sleepy eyes early as we again circled the camp fire under the stars.

Sunday arrived and the anticipation soon set in as we came to the adventure of tubing down the river! Then it was time to pack up and head home. Thanks for a great weekend!

Here are many pics from our camping adventure to Tilleda Falls!

Weekend Wonders

Hope you all had a safe and happy Memorial Day Weekend as I did.

The mini vacation to Wisconsin Rapids sure was delightful. The handyman and I spent the 4 day weekend together..working and having a little fun.

Our Weekend Adventures started off on Friday as we got down to business around the house and yard. I started my morning with the inspiration of the sunshine beaming down and an MP3 player hooked up with my favorite GO list..as I took a 6 mile hike downtown Rapids.

That started off the day to then mow Grandma's lawn and to continue enjoying the outdoors. Later in the day, the handyman gave the doggies a bath-pictures to come on that. The summer night was enjoyed with cooking over the open bonfire in my new 4 qt. dutch oven and laying in the fresh warm air in our hammock.

Saturday day was a day fun in the sun as well. We spent the day cruising in the boat with Josh. Waiting in the cool waters up at the sandbar and having a few Margarita Mikes Hard Lemonades.

Sunday was an enjoyable afternoon with Jake's Grandparents. Sometimes things remind us in life just what is important and family sure is. We had a nice visit and helped with a few yard chores and watering the flowers.

Sunday evening we enjoyed dinner out at our favorite spot-el Mezcal! yummy as always.
We then bought our fishing license..bonus to being married-Discount on our yearly passes. We hit the shoreline of Nepco Lake to catch a few 2-incher pan fish and to my surprise cray fish. Another delightful evening in the fresh air.

Monday was spent relaxing and watching Deadliest Catch-those guys have nothing on me..my cray fish were pretty big. I met my Mom for an afternoon of shopping. The hunt for wedding shoes is on. As I got home, the handyman had the kayaks and truck loaded. We hit the other side of Nepco and got out on the water. We enjoyed a new adventure of fishing from the kayaks. We took home a dozen pan fish..so tonight..fresh fish dinner. Last night then we enjoyed another dutch oven recipe over the open fire..Campfire Potatoes!

More recipes and pictures to come this week from our weekend wonders!
Simply Enjoy!

Flower Surprise

As the handyman is back to work, it gives me a few extra minutes through out my evenings to simply stop and smell the roses.
Now yesterday to my suprise in my moment of wandering, I found a beautiful flower! Every year I am excited to see the reaccuring blooms of my hostas and lilies, however this year a new bloom. What a pretty site.

Here are some plants around our house. Lovely growing greens reaching for up for the sun.
Enjoy the outdoors and simple suprises of life!

Event List

Today I gathered my summer dates and events coming up...and holy smokes..busy busy summer. I don't know why I feel so overwhelmed as we are coming into summer time, but let's just say we only have a few spare weekends. Maybe that is why my blood pressue today was at 146/92..border line.

With all these events coming up, it should give me more motivation to get out and start moving! We have started to walk around Lake Wazeecha with the dogs..thats about a 4mile hike! It has lovely views of the lake, trees, park and there usually are people to greet as you pass by. Now did you know..Lake Wazeecha in Indian name means: Lake of the Land of the Pines..makes sense. Also the lake is 148 acres...that sounds better than just a 4 mile hike..we walk around 148 acres! sort of.

Kickin' up the hikes this week! Anyone else need the motivation to go together..give me a call. 13.1 mile hike - first weekend in June! gotten get groovin'

Have a wonderful Tuesday and enjoy the outdoors!
ps..keeping my Photo of the Day out there all week..as it makes me laugh. Now this isn't Roxy but she would do something like this.

Cold Gear

Recently folks have been interested in the
Adventure of snowshoeing!
What a great sport to be able to get out in
the winter world and start moving.
Jake and I started snowshoeing the last few winters
and have enjoyed the beauty around us, however
you need to be comfortable when going...

Here are a few cold gear tips, with style!
  • Warm wool socks
  • Winter boots -new fav-Northface boots..my tootsie stay nice and comfortable
  • Under armour wear-is the best! flexible and you feel like a super hero in it too
  • Fitted gear-selecting the right size snowshoe so you "float" on snow
  • Comfortable ski pants, Jacket or down vest, mittens, hats
  • Dressing in layers is a good plan
  • Don't forget your camera...

New Years Day tradition

Polar bear plungers...

Rusty's Backwater Saloon-near Stevens Point hosts
the New Years Day Polar Bear Plunge. A day of winter
chill, excitement, music and of course Bloody Marys!

Make your own homemade bloody mary mix:
3 cups tomato juice
3 tablespoons lemon juice
3 tablespoons lime juice
1 tablespoon prepared horseradish
1 tablespoon Worcestershire Sauce
1 teaspoon minced garlic
3/4 teaspoon Tabasco
3/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
In a blender combine the tomato juice, lemon juice, lime juice, horseradish, Worcestershire sauce, garlic, and hot sauce and process until smooth. Transfer to a non-reactive container and add salt and black pepper, to taste. Refrigerate until thoroughly chilled, at least 2 hours and up to overnight.

(Comment below with your favorite
bloody mary mixes or best taverns to get one)
