We crossed the border going through the Detroit-Windsor Tunnel.
It is a partially submerged highway tunnel connecting the USA to Canada.
As we crossed the border and were welcomed to the city, we started to experience the delights of Spring with feelings of the cities French heritage and spring blooms around.
Approaching a city park along the waters-the skyline of the USA was in front of us. Very cool.
Hi! I am in Canada-its my first trip!
Tulips all around...
After we enjoyed the city park, we detoured through the country side, which led us to a quaint area of farm fields, greenhouses and marinas all around. We were on our way to an Outlet Mall, however the GPS wasn't working in our favor for exact directions, but we did get to see more of the area this way.
We did make it to our destination, shopped for a few hours, then headed back downtown for souvenirs and dinner.
I was on a hunt for some good Canadian Whiskey for the handyman but struck out..instead he got maple taffy.
Next we ate at Maazar...a Lebanese restaurant.
We took the recommendations from our waiter and experienced the wonderful Greek food he brought to us.
First were Stuffed Grape Leaves, they look interesting...
..but were a little bitter for me.
Next up was Humus..at first I only saw the beans at the bottom in the oil, but the humus is the entire bowl and oh was it delicious with fresh pita bread.
(notice how the spoon sinks into the side of the bowl.)
Heading back to the states, we had to see the view at night from the park.
Love the twinkle of the lights in the night sky.
We kept watching an elevator in one of the buildings go up and down.
Man, that vator was quick...as we only could see the light in it going up and down.
Truly entertaining.
Crossing the border back was a little tricky. Here I am from Wisconsin, traveling with a lady from Florida and another gal from Alabama..and why are we staying in Detroit?
We did get asked many questions by the border patrol, however our vehicle was one that didn't get searched.
I was thankful of that, as Ms. Florida had us each bring back 2 bottles of 200 pills each of Tylenol with codeine..I happen to have kept a bottle for myself though.
So an evening of city skylines, souvenirs, dinner, drugs and peer enjoyment of seeing new things in this world.
Hope you get out and adventure the outdoors.
